How Our Shirts Are Made

The quality of most funny t-shirts is no laughing matter. In an age of crowd-sourced art, outsourced mass production, and budget blanks printed with harmful chemicals, we’re proud to do things the long, hard, sustainable way.
Socially Responsible Shirts
Our "signature blend" garments are ethically sourced in the USA and cut & sewn to our custom specifications by our small, longstanding manufacturer, certified annually by the California Garment Manufacturers Bureau to guarantee fair, safe, and ethical working conditions. We also source some t-shirt fits and products from value aligned suppliers with social responsible manufacturing practices in place.

Dyed with Eco Friendly Substances
Our garment manufacturer is certified according to the “Voluntary Standards on Nonuse of Harmful Substances for Textiles and Clothing” issued by the Japan Textiles Federation (JTF), to ensure that only environmentally safe, nontoxic substances are used in the dyeing of our garments.
Sustainably Printed with Water-Based Biodegradable Inks
Most of our buttery soft, vintage inspired t-shirts are printed by a small team in our Burlington, Vermont headquarters, using water-based inks, free of heavy metals, formaldehyde and Alkylphenol Ethoxylates (APE), making them non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable. We also work with value aligned suppliers to print some of our products using the exact same inks we work with in house.
Unlike most screen printed shirts, with thick ink that sits on top of the shirt, our water-based inks get absorbed into the fabric leaving a soft, breathable print..
Produced W/ “Waterless” manufacturing process
Our cutting edge, digital technology is built upon a waterless manufacturing process that requires no pretreatment, streaming, or washing.
Did you know that the volume of water used in conventional dyeing and textile print processes could fill the Mediterranean Sea every two years! The number one environmental risk factor in textiles is water pollution.

We make our goods to order, eliminating overproduction while allowing us to offer an expansive breadth of original artwork and unique designs from over 20 years in the t-shirt game.
Shipped in 100% Recycled & Reusable Mailers
All of our goods are shipped in Solid Threads branded, sustainably manufactured mailers made in the USA, from 100% recycled content, 50% post-consumer waste, featuring a dual adhesive strip for reuse.
